Home Coming Jul 17, 2008

(For my 'critique' Mohan ... this is as happy as I get buddy *grin* ... hope you like it)

....
candles flicker
dancing with the breeze
incense fills the air
worshipful murmurings
resonate against walls
piety oft scorned
uncomfortable
partner alongside
festering materialism
solace sought
unthinkingly find
feet led by heart
transfixed gaze
upon shadows
playing
in mind's eye
one sees God
arms welcoming
soothing
reassuring
as day turns to night
amongst the heralds
the homecoming
of one prodigal child
gives much rejoicing

Nicely and beautifully worded. Short statements. Totally disjointed. Yes, you have an amazing ability to permutate words but the challenge is sometimes stringing those words to make enough sense towards the message you're trying to send/potray in a simplistic and understandable way.

In my opinion(and only in my daft views)..it's a massacre of emotions in this one, and one of utter confusion at that!...one going from the stubborn staunch religious shackles of youth to the realisation of the realities in a very materialistic ideal of parternership in real life, and of failure, to the rejection of kindergarten 'Father I have sinned stuff'..to the solace from damnation in realising that all that pain and frustration, and hatred has resulted in another life one would die for, a smiley child!

p/s: Very Nice Poem indeed!
p/s2: Am not a critique..just very very smashed!

Smashed but still sharp Mohan :))

Confusion always exists where religion meets secularism don't you think?

Really don't know the answer .ani. I'm an atheist and my parents faith are just theirs and of course a joy for me to get more loot in some celebration or another. Think the human spirit of righteous moral values, compassion and understanding need not co-exist with the no-brainer that is religion. Ah..religion, another reason for the cowardice human ape to shy away from thinking!
M.
p/s: hate hate HATE religion and the religious, well maybe not the religious...who else can we take the piss off!(think i wrote this in someone's blog but was too smashed as usual)

:)) i understand what you're saying..

not sure if I shared it with you but there's a gospel song which says 'God don't need your stain glass faith, He just wants your soul'

But that aside ... I don't think religion makes you shy away from thinking - at least with me it hasn't - am forever thinking (probably half of my problem is I think too much)

God and me - we got a personal thing going on *eheheh sounds kinky I know but nothing like that my friend!*

Anyhows try not to get too smashed too often my dear, there's more to everything especially in moderation :)

Cheers!

hey .ani,
this one's for you!.. wrote it on christmas eve after spending much of a night with a homeless alcohlic dude in Melbourne....
-------------
GRAY CHRISTMAS
solemn crimes of bread and wine,
a christmas chime that died cold,
a lone fire, some spare change, a cardboard box to call home
and a broken dream with glue to mend or sniff,
twas' the night before christmas when the homeless stirred,
and lazy tunes brought hazy hope to dizzy folk,
who walked aimlessly picking the pieces of grief from the hallowed
streets of paradise.
--------
You take care, M.
p/s: So you ppl. are from Seremban huh! Me mum used to teach at KGV in the early 60's.(before she eloped and ended up in Melaka) and i have an uncle whom i'm very close to who lives at Bukit Rasah.

Bukit Rasah? Are you like Ceylonese or something? Prob know your uncle's kids then seeing as Seremban is not exactly in the scale of big time metropolis *ehehhe*

You sound like a right colourful character Mohan ... I suppose it be a riot chatting with you on the promise no politics is broached :))

Interesting piece ... if one let's ones imagination go, one 'sees' and 'smells' everything - thank you again for sharing Mohan.

You Are Welcomed Warmly

I see you've found yourself suddenly here amidst the poetic scribbles of my rambling mind often incoherent to the general you and only understood by myself.

If you find that my words have touched you, then indeed my journey of words has met its objective ... I wish to be able to let you the unknown reader experience my rollercoaster existence with the stringing of words.

It is my sincere hope that you will come many times again and leave your comments and feedback for I am only a writer here in the anonymity of the internet, harbouring a burning desire to someday hold my words bound within pages in the bookstores of the world ...

Perhaps dreams keeps us going - I intend to try perhaps to turn mine into some reality .. thank you for stopping by...
