You see only the tough exterior
You see the smiles,
May hear the unladylike laugh
Maybe you just see a clown of a woman
Nothing pretty to the eyes
Nothing smart in the brain
Not even acceptable at any level
Just a woman
One to mock
One to find faults with
One to insult or be rude to
Only a lowly woman
Might you then be gallant enough
To stand in her womanly shoes
To tread the steps she takes
To do the things she does
To be as strong in resolve
To hold her tongue words that would cut you down to size
Could you lay in her bed of thorns
As her heart bleeds its burdened sorrows
Unspoken
Unheard
Nothing more nothing less
Can you be that woman
Just simply a woman.
