against my window
searching into the distance
never did your shadow cast
might I have blinked
missed the moment 

if i keep looking
perhaps you will
gift me with a glimpse of your shy smile
eyes lowered as you hurry by
so here I remain
hopeful

Moments

alone desolate
carnage death
amongst the sordid images
stood proud and stoic
ebony alongside ivory
encased in the best mahogany
drawn closer almost afraid
Bach, Beethoven and Mozart
played out to my touch
from memory against these
long silenced keys
music soared heaven bound
momentarily flooding life
into where living had long ceased

I probe

No end

Out it comes

A shy blurt

Love you

I laugh

When opulence and wealth

Designer labels expensive toys

Insignificant without value

Recipients blinded in a greedy orgy

I take a step back

And see with my mind and heart

I see children all bones

Taut skin

Swollen belly

Cracked dry thirsting mouths

Crying without tears

As hunger claims yet another

I see the women squatting

Under scorching sun

Small chisel and hammer

Working rock into pebbles

For few measly coins

That might douse fires in empty bellies

I see men become beasts of burden

Their youth plundered

Their frames bent in submission

Jostling for extras

That might add to the scraps

Each calls his meal

Some have more than others

Yet some others have nothing

Like death knolls toll

Humanity loses itself in its greed

There are many losing themselves

As poverty and hunger spreads

not exactly a poem, just some wishes to all

the hours tick by

soon a new year comes

look back only for lessons learnt

leave regrets and disappointments

in the past where they belong.

infinitely happy days are wished

as the new year unfolds

that every endeavour is success met

and every day end achievement get

blessed and properous
